Wigan Athletic have announced that midfielder Shaun Maloney has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract at the DW Stadium.
The 29-year-old Scotland international has become a key figure at Wigan having started 20 of Wigan’s 22 Barclays Premier League matches this season.
Roberto Martinez told the club’s website: "From the first day he arrived his professionalism and determination to succeed has been outstanding and an example for the younger members of the group to follow.
West Brom's Reid's character
West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has revealed that Steven Reid played with a broken leg for 45 minutes of last month's Barlcays Premier League match with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Republic of Ireland defender made his comeback as a substitute during the midweek FA Cup tie against Queens Park Rangers at The Hawthorns, but West Brom had kept the extent of his injury under wraps.
Stoke loan out Edu
Stoke have said that Maurice Edu has been loaned out to Turkish side Bursaspor for the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old United States midfielder joined Stoke from Rangers in August but has only played once in the Barclays Premier League, for ten minutes as a substitute against Liverpool.
