Bale and Van Persie up for UEFA award

Bale or Van Persie could win 'Best Player in Europe' award for 2012/13

Gareth Bale scored 21 goals in the Barclays Premier League last season

Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie could win the 2012/13 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award.

Bale and Van Persie are two of ten players who have been put on a shortlist for the award, after having great seasons in the Barclays Premier League.

Bale scored 21 goals as Tottenham finished fifth in the league.

Van Persie helped Manchester United win the title. He was also the top scorer in the Premier League with 26 goals.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo are also on the shortlist. The winner will be revealed in August.
