27-year-old striker moves to Blues from Newcastle after agreeing three-and-a-half year deal

Demba Ba said he was 'proud' to have joined Chelsea from Newcastle United

Chelsea have added to their attacking options by signing Newcastle United striker Demba Ba for an undisclosed fee.

The Senegal international has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the 2012 UEFA Champions League winners, who are third in the Barclays Premier League.

Ba, who is eligible for Saturday's FA Cup match at Southampton, is the joint second-highest scorer in the English top flight with 13 goals this season.

"It feels good to be here, I'm very happy and very proud," Ba, who will wear the No 29 shirt at Stamford Bridge, told the club’s official website.
