Liverpool defender faces spell on sidelines after picking up injury

Daniel Agger has been in excellent form in the Liverpool defence this season

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is set to miss the next few weeks of the season after suffering a rib injury.

The 27-year-old Denmark international was injured during Liverpool's Carling Cup final win over Cardiff City last weekend.

Reds manager Kenny Dalglish said: "Daniel has got a fractured rib, so maybe it will be a few weeks.

"He has been playing fantastically well this year, and we'll miss anybody that is not fit and available."
