West Bromwich Albion Academy player Saido Berahino scored a hat-trick to help his team beat Newport County 3-0 and reach the third round of the Capital One Cup.
The 20-year-old scored three times on his full debut for West Brom. He has been with the club since he was 12.
"I'm delighted for the boy because he’s worked ever so hard to get his chance," West Brom head coach Steve Clarke told the club's website. "He's given me a lot to think about and I'm really pleased about that. Saido's a born goalscorer, who’s hungry to do well."
Also on Tuesday, Liverpool got through after beating League One side Notts County in extra time. There were also wins for Barclays Premier League teams Southampton, Norwich City, Hull City, Sunderland, Fulham and West Ham United.
