Southampton captain Adam Lallana has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2018.

Midfielder Lallana, who has been at Southampton since he was 12-years-old, helped the team get promotion from League One and the Championship in the last two seasons.

He has signed a five-year-deal with Saints, who are 11th in the Barclays Premier League after three wins in a row.

Lallana told the club's website: "I can't wait to work with the new management team and the lads to continue our progress in the Premier League. It was an easy decision for me with the direction the club is going in."
