Everton in the Community has been named Charity of the Year at the national Charity Times Awards in recognition of its groundbreaking work across Merseyside.
"It's absolutely fantastic to receive such a big award in the charity sector"

The Barclays Premier League club's official charity topped its counterparts in the £1m to £10m income category, beating off competition from six other charities from around the UK, including the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, CHICKS and Women for Women International – all of which deliver invaluable services to those most in need.
"It's absolutely fantastic to receive such a big award in the charity sector," Everton in the Community's Chief Executive, Dr Denise Barrett-Baxendale told the club's official website. "The Everton in the Community staff and volunteers work so hard and we're all truly delighted to be making such a difference within our community.
"It's a great feeling to receive such wonderful recognition from our peers for all the hard work that goes into what we do and it really inspires us as a team to grow the charity further and help even more people with a significant need," added Dr Barrett-Baxendale.
The Charity Times Awards were inaugurated in 1999 to honour, support, promote and provide recognition for UK charities and their management.
