Cardiff add to defence with Amondarain

Uruguay Under-20 defender joins Welsh side on four-year deal

Mackay, left, views Medel's experience as an invaluable asset to Cardiff

Cardiff City have announced the signing of Maximiliano Amondarain from CA Progreso, in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The 20-year-old central defender had a trial during the summer at the club before joining the Uruguay Under-20 squad who finished runners-up to France in July's 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey. He has completed his medical and signed a four-year deal with the Bluebirds.

He is Malky Mackay's sixth summer signing after Andreas Cornelius (Copenhagen), John Brayford (Derby County), Simon Moore (Brentford), Steven Caulker (Tottenham Hotspur) and Gary Medel (Sevilla).
