Sir Alex Ferguson earned his first points of the season as Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa scored on their debuts in Manchester United's come-from-behind victory over Fulham.
Damien Duff gave the home side a shock lead in the second minute as Bryan Ruiz rolled a free-kick into the Irishman’s path which he turned home before guest of honour Usain Bolt had even taken his seat.
Van Persie levelled with the clinical efficiency, meeting Patrice Evra's left-wing cross perfectly and flashing a shot wide of Mark Schwarzer.
When the Dutchman's corner was half-cleared to Tom Cleverley, Mark Schwarzer could only turn the midfielder's shot into the path of Kagawa, who swept home from close range.
Restored to the starting line-up following his Olympic campaign with Brazil, Rafael Da Silva had a goal ruled out for offside before nodding home Ashley Young's chip to the far post just before the break.
But the game was not over and after Michael Carrick had almost conceded an own goal, Nemanja Vidic did so as the ball bounced in off the defender after David de Gea had missed Matthew Briggs' cross.
De Gea then denied Fulham an equaliser with two saves to deny Moussa Dembele then Ruiz. Wayne Rooney, who was a substitute, came on during the second half for Kagawa but had to go off after suffering a nasty gash to his thigh in stoppage time when he was trodden on by Hugo Rodallega.
Ferguson later said that Rooney faced four weeks out because of the injury.
